In response to Customer demands for interchangeability, VW Company have developed the NEW Universal MedAssist™ a versatile and lightweight lift-assisted stretcher trolley. The Universal MedAssist™ connects into the Ferno two point locking system and into its own Station that locks the Universal MedAssist™ aswell as other stretcher trolleys, critical care trolleys and incubator transport units into the Ambulance floor.

We have designed the Universal MedAssist™ to help reduce users' injuries related to manual handling; it is a light lift-assisted stretcher trolley with a weight of only 47.7kg (excludes mattress and belts).

The Universal MedAssist™ is the only lift-assisted stretcher trolley to be able to convert into a wheelchair, to allow easier access into confined spaces, such as narrow corridors and lifts. The innovative stretcher trolley has its own unique directional lock that prevents any problematic 'supermarket trolley' wheeling effect.

The Universal MedAssist™ is fully compliant to BS EN 1789:2000 Medical Vehicles and their equipment – Road ambulances. The stretcher trolley passed its dynamic tests in the Universal Station, its own locking device and the Ferno's two point locking system.

• Perfect functionality with the ability to perform the key stretcher trolley positions:
  • Lower leg section adjustable between 0° and -75°
  • Upper leg section adjustable to 0° or 15°
  • Back support is adjustable between 0° and 75°
  • Height can be set at any position between 580mm and 900mm (top of mattress measurement)
• Fully-welded mattress (connected without velcro)
• Powder coated in an anti bacterial paint approved to all current fire and smoke emission regulations

Universal MedAssist™ Station:

The Universal MedAssist™ simply locks into the ambulance floor in the Universal Station.

The Universal MedAssist™ Station consists of two parts, the guide and the station. The stretcher trolley is wheeled towards the guide, this fits through a bar of the stretcher trolley and then the station connects into the foot end bar of the stretcher trolley and locks down. The stretcher trolley is released from the Universal Station by pressing the foot pedal down on the station.
